Know your assets

Attention: Valued Customer

This month we are focusing on Fixed Assets such as Office Equipment, Machinery, Motor Vehicles etc. Many companies keep only basic, if any, records of their Fixed Assets and leave it up to their Accountant on an annual basis to calculate depreciation for their tax returns.

If you adopt Tax Depreciation for your Accounts you are very likely writing off your valuable fixed assets well before their useful life. This can result in lower profits and a reduction in the net value of your business. Not a good outcome if you want to sell your business or raise additional funds.

A good Fixed Assets Management Package will make it easier to maintain both Tax and Accounts Depreciation and also help keep track of assets for Insurance Purposes. Our next Business Breakfast Briefing on Wednesday the 18th April, 2007 will cover these topics and more for Sybiz Vision, Advanced Business Manager and SAP Business One. To register for this event, click here.

If you are interested in learning more about Tax Depreciation click here to download the The Australian Tax Office Guide to Depreciating Assets.

Sybiz Vision

You can have a set of text lines available to inset into your invoices, saving time by not re-keying the same information messages onto your invoices.

Using Notepad create and save into your V:VisionHome folder a separate .TXT file for each with the message you require. Now when invoicing select the "Text Line" tab. Select the Item Controls, thenCTL T (Insert text file at current line), this will take you to a pop up box defaulting to the locationv:VisionHome double click on the message you require from the Files list. The message from within the text file is inserting into your invoice. More >

You can now show which leave days, as in the dates that have been taken on the payslip. This can be done through Payslip Forms Editor by using the "Add a Table" button by selecting the grid column fields "Leave First Day" and "Leave Last Day", or you can edit the existing table, and add the column fields to the grid. Advanced Business Manager

ABM comes with lots of hidden switches that can be very useful. I have listed a few below. If you would like more details on how to activate these switches please contact support and one of our consultants can help you.
1. Be able to purchase serial track items without specifying the serial number at time of purchase.
2. On Sales deliveries and invoices, print lines not delivered or invoiced but still on back orders
3. When viewing a customer/supplier, ABM will default to showing the outstanding items rather than the history.
